  43. Installation
  44. ------------
  45. Start the MyAlbumSetup.exe program and follow the on-screen
  46. instructions.
  47.     Note:    You can safely install a new version over an older one to keep
  48.         your settings intact.
  49. MyAlbum is now installed !

  51. Installing the screen saver.
  52. Use the Windows Explorer to locate the file 'MyAlbum Screen Saver.scr'.
  53. Click this file with the right mouse button and choose the 'Install'
  54. menu item. Press the 'Settings' button and select the album you want
  55. to use.

  60. To uninstall the MyAlbum application, choose the 'Uninstall MyAlbum' item

  65. ===============
  66. Version 2.3 (Dec-03):
  67.     - Redesigned List view using a spread-sheet like grid. The List can be
  68.       accessed from a button in the tool bar and can be customized at the
  69.       album level. Columns can be made editable so information can be
  70.       modified directly in the list (picture comment for instance).
  71.       The "List view" tab in the MyAlbum Setup dialog box now defines the
  72.       default column settings for the new albums. The "Album Info" dialog
  73.       box now has a "List view" tab for customizing the definition of the
  74.       list for the current album.
  75.       The list can also be printed.
  76.     - New "Selected pictures information" command in the Picture menu.
  77.       It allow to alter the properties of all the selected pictures of
  78.       the album in one operation.
  79.     - A subset of the Display Strings macros have been defined as "mutable"
  80.       that is they can be written to modify the corresponding album or
  81.       picture property.
  82.     - The Find command offers a new option for displaying the result in
  83.       a List view.
  84.     - MyAlbum can now use a monitor or printer color printer for better
  85.       accuracy of the colors (Color Management button in the Monitors
  86.       tab of the MyAlbum setup).
  87.     - New "Shuffle" mode for the slideshow: pictures are displayed in a
  88.       random order but each picture is displayed once before starting over.

  91.     - It's now easier to move a group of pictures in an album with the mouse
  92.       as the selection is no reset when the user tries to drag the selection.

  129.       It also allows MyAlbum to run more than one script (the evaluation
  130.       of a %SF macro in a script for instance).
  131.     - Syntax coloring for the scripts written in the Perl language.
  132.     - A moveable divider has been added in the "Run script" dialog box
  133.       to change the relative sizes of the script editor and the trace list.

  198.     - New printing module: define your own templates to print your pictures.

  200.       existing, the thumbnail size is computed using the other parameters
  201.       (sheet size, number by row, column,...), more error processing done.
  202.     - Visual feedback when moving pictures with the mouse makes rearranging
  203.       them easier. Page and mouse wheel scrolling has been adapted to make
  204.       scrolling thru large albums easier.
  205.     - Enhanced Batch rename: an advanced mode using Display Strings for building

  593. MyAlbum is not intended for computer display using less than 32768 colors (256
  594. colors for instance). True color pictures (JPEG for instance) will not be
  595. displayed correctly.

  597. Leaving the print preview of a poster (that is canceling the printing)
  598. will often result in a garbled display. Press the Esc key to restore the display.
  599.  
  600. Due to the use in Windows 95/98/Me of 16 bit coordinates in the graphic sub-system,
  601. the bottom of large albums (>2000 pictures) will not be seen (you cannot scroll down
  602. to the bottom).
  603. The only solution for now is to use a larger display (wider in fact) to have more
  604. thumbnails in a row or to reduce the size of the thumbnails.

  606. There is a strange bug under 95/98/Me when creating the thumbnails of very big images.
  607. You can also experience this by zooming out (Shift-Z) a big picture, at a certain point
  608. the screen will black out. Under NT/2000/XP you can make the picture as small as you want.

  611. The thumbnails are created using the current display setting regarding the color depth.
  612. You can switch to a 16 bits/pixel display before creating the album to reduce the size
  613. of the album. As the thumbnails are small images the loss of color definition is not
  614. noticeable.

  616. Transparency is not fully handled for GIF and PNG files. For the best display quality,
  617. do not zoom pictures that have a transparent background.
